No, No, No

No Reserves

No Retreat

No Regret

These were the words that were found to be recorded in William Borden's Bible when he died in Egypt in 1913.

I just recently heard of the story of William Borden. Heir to the Borden, Inc. empire, William Borden had an encounter with Christ and then felt the Lord's call on his life at the age of 16. His family was very wealthy and after sending William around the world, he informed his family upon his return that he would be giving up everything for missionary work.

He wrote "No Reserves" after renouncing his fortune for missions.

He wrote "No Retreat" after his father told him he would never let him work in the company again.

He wrote "No Regrets" shortly before he died of meningitis in Egypt.

He left behind money for missions and a testimony of a life turned over completely to Jesus Christ.

What testimony will we leave behind?

Spotlight - The Bells

Here is the next Spotlight. Each month I will highlight a different friends that my wife and I know somewhere around the world. We encourage you to pray for them and their work. You will find contact info if you want to send them an encouraging note and also information on how to donate towards their ministry if you feel so led. The next family I want to spotlight are the Bells. Rick and Jennifer work in China.
We first met Rick and Jennifer Bell back in 1994 at a DTS in Lindale, TX. Actually I met and fell in love with Sarah there and Rick and Jennifer also met and fell in love during this time. I asked Rick to share a bit about themselves:

The Bell Family has been serving for over 14 years in China. Rick has worked in various teaching positions, working with children as well as adults. Most of his work, however has been in Universities, where he has sought to shine the light of Jesus while teaching various subjects, like English, Culture, and Literature classes.

Jennifer has done most of the homeschooling of their children, Matthew (11), and Ryan (7), while also taking care of Marybeth (2). She makes friends in the community and shines her light through the relationships that develop.

The Bells have been involved with others in the building of new schools in the countryside, and more recently helping a farm project to get started. They are coming alongside Chinese brothers and sisters to support them in their own outreach to needy villages.

Please pray for them as they seek to make a difference among a population that is so large! Pray that their words and works are attended with divine power!

Missionary Spotlight: Lindsay Hallman

Here is the next Missionary Spotlight. Each month I will highlight a different missionary that my wife and I know somewhere around the world. We encourage you to pray for them and their work. You will find contact info if you want to send them an encouraging note and also information on how to donate towards their ministry if you feel so led. The next missionary I want to spotlight is Lindsay Hallman. We first met Lindsay a couple years ago when she spent a short time in Smithers, BC. I asked Lindsay to share a bit about herself:

Hi! My name is Lindsay Hallman. I grew up in Red Deer, Alberta. When I was 19 years old God called me to be a missionary in Mexico. Finally two years later I was able to go. I came down to Oaxaca, Mexico in August 2008 and hooked up with an organization called Global Frontier Missions. I attended Mission Training School for 7 months. Mission Training School (MTS) is basically an on-the-field program where we are able to grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus and learn about God's heart for the nations while practicing what we've been taught. In April I graduated from the program and was asked to stay with Global Frontier Missions in Oaxaca. I will be doing discipleship with the single girls who come down from the States and Canada to attend short-term mission trips and Mission Training School. As well as working with the school I will continue to grow my relationships with Mexican friends and tell them about Jesus so that they can fall in love with him too. One of my Mexican friends and I will be going every couple of weeks to a village about an hour and a half from where I live to minister to the people there. This village only has 1 or 2 Christians. We believe that one day a church will be in that village because the Lord reigns and He is mighty to save!

-Please pray for the many Unreached People Groups who have not yet heard about Jesus Christ in the State of Oaxaca.
-Alcoholism and adultery are two of the biggest strongholds here in Oaxaca. Pray that those strongholds would be torn down and that families would be reconciled.
-Pray that our Oaxacan friends and neighbours would not have a spirit of fear but that they would open up their hearts and be set free in the name of Jesus.
-Pray that more Christians would GO and tell those who don't know him about our Saviour. Let's not keep Him to ourselves.
-Please pray for me.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. :) (Psalm 136:1)

Missionary Spotlight: Lenard and Debbie Nance

Here is the next Missionary Spotlight. Each month I will highlight a different missionary that my wife and I know somewhere around the world. We encourage you to pray for them and their work. You will find contact info if you want to send them an encouraging note and also information on how to donate towards their ministry if you feel so led. The next missionaries are Lenard and Debbie Nance. You can find out more info about Lenard and Debbie, including contact info, at their website: Connecting Cultures and Lenard's Blog.

Lenard and Debbie have been married for 32 years, have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. They started their missions life in 1991 by taking a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Tyler, Texas. In 1993 they were accepted on staff with YWAM Salem, Oregon where they have served for the last 16 years.

In 1993 the Lord gave Lenard and Debbie a vision of seeing a YWAM operating center in Southeast Alaska. The Lord refined that focus to connecting the Native people of Southeast Alaska with unreached tribal people around the world, engaing them with the message of Jesus Christ through their own culture. Lenard and Debbie launched Connecting Cultures in Christ in 2003 to intentionally move forward with mobilizing Southeast Alaskan Natives to missions.

Lenard and Debbie are currently in the process of developing property, donated in 2008, for a YWAM operating center in Ketchikan, Alaska. This is one of the main gateways to Southeast Alaska. They will move to Alaska this year. After all these years in pursuit of God's leading and provision, they are experiencing the joy and excitement of seeing their dream fulfilled.

Donations are needed for property development and ministry costs. You can donate to the ministry of Lenard and Debbie Nance via Connecting Cultures in Christ, PO Box 12647, Salem, OR 97309

CCinc is a registered non-profit 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible within the rules and regulations of the IRS.

Missionary Spotlight: The Freckas

Today will start a new monthly feature called: Missionary Spotlight. Each month I will highlight a different missionary that my wife and I know somewhere around the world. We encourage you to pray for them and their work. You will find contact info if you want to send them an encouraging note and also information on how to donate towards their ministry if you feel so led. I have asked the first missionaries we will spotlight, the Freckas, to write a bit about themselves. You can find out more info about Andy and Rachel Frecka, including contact info, at their website. www.handyrachet.com:

Let there be no talk of self denial. A team from an American church came to visit us in Perm, Russia in 1999 and asked, "Why did you choose to become a missionary, Andy?" I answered with the first thought that popped into my head: "It sure beats cutting grass for a living." There have been some good days and some hard days, but they were all with Jesus, and they were all a whole lot more interesting than cutting grass. We didn't bring Jesus to Russia. He was already here waiting for us, and boy were we glad for that when we got off the train! The best part of going into all the world is that He will be with us to the very end.

How's that for some random thoughts? :)

Andy and Rachel Frecka make their home in Perm, Russia together with their four small children. We have called Perm home for most of our adult lives, living here for ten years now. Andy is the national director of Youth With A Mission Russia, and is involved with multiple mission pioneering projects across the nation of Russia. He also has a teaching ministry in various mission schools throughout the former Soviet Union. It is our dream to see Russia reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ, and to see Russian missionaries sent long term to ALL nations.

Tax-deductible donations (tax-deductions for US donors only) to the ministry of Andy and Rachel Frecka can be sent to YWAM Accounting/Box 3000/Garden Valley TX 75771. Make the check payable to "YWAM" and attach a separate note that states "For Andy and Rachel Frecka". Our names should not appear anywhere on the check. Donations can also be made with the "donate online" feature at www.handyrachet.com
